Instruction of physics experiments is the essential part of the physics teaching in junior middle school. As the component of largest number in instruction of physics experiments, demonstrative experiments are used most frequently, which are also the key point of experiment instruction. According to the demands of "New Curriculum Standard of Physics in Junior Middle School", teaching methods should be transferred from "exam-oriented education" which emphasizes the knowledge to "quality education" which cultivates the ability of students. When it comes to experiment teaching, teachers should foster students'ability of exploration, scientific approach of seek truth from facts and initiative spirit of doing research. While, the development of demonstrative experiment teaching in rural junior middle schools, especially in some remote and poverty-stricken ethnic minority areas, is handicapped or misled by many problems, such as the backward facilities of physical experiments, the low overall quality of the teachers, the wrong concept of teaching, the improper methods of experiment teaching and so on. So, it's necessary to make a survey and analyze the current situation of demonstrative experiments of physics in these areas. In the thesis, according to the author's teaching practice in Enshi Prefecture of Hubei Province and based on the surveys and interviews of the physics teachers and students there, the current situation of the demonstrative experiments of physics in the local areas and the causes resulting in the sluggish development of the demonstrative experiments are analyzed, and then several improving suggestions are proposed.
