Self-handicapping is a negative adaptive behavior generated by maintenance self-sense of worth on the basis of self-cognition with the development of self-awareness. With keen competition, the threat to self-worth facing by students of grade 3 in high school is comparatively large. How to conduct effective self-control to prepare college entrance examinations with active assessment and get good scores in college entrance examinations are the most concerned matters to all students of grade 3 in high schools and their parents. This thesis is to discuss the relations between scores in college entrance examinations and self- efficiency, self-handicapping, on the object of students of grade 3 in high school. On the one hand, this thesis investigates the characteristics and relation of self-efficiency and self-handicapping; on the other hand, this thesis studies the effect to caused by self-efficiency and self-handicapping and provides actual assistance to students of grade 3 in high school. scores in college entrance examinations.This research is based on the questionnaire for 394 students of grade 3 in high schools from Chongqing No.1 Middle School, Chongqing No.7 Middle School, Chongqing No.28 Middle School by self-efficiency scale and self-handicapping questionnaire two months before college entrance examinations. The results obtained by related analysis methods are as follow:(1)Difference in schools is existed in self efficiency sensitivity of students of grade 3 in high schools. The self efficiency sensitivity of students of grade 3 in key high schools directly under the jurisdiction of a municipal government is the highest one, the next one is the self efficiency sensitivity of students of grade 3 in municipal-level key high schools and the last one is the self efficiency sensitivity of students of grade 3 in normal high schools. Obvious difference is existed between normal high schools and municipal-level key high schools, key high schools directly under the jurisdiction of a municipal government. The difference between municipal-level key high schools and key high schools directly under the jurisdiction of a municipal government is not obvious. For self efficiency sensitivity, the differences in genders and subjects of students of grade 3 in high school are not obvious.(2)Difference in schools is existed in self-handicapping of students of grade 3 in high schools. The self-handicapping of students of grade 3 in normal high schools is the highest one, the next one is the self-handicapping of students of grade 3 in municipal-level key high schools and the last one is the self-handicapping of students of grade 3 in key high schools directly under the jurisdiction of a municipal government. For self-handicapping, the differences in genders and subjects of students of grade 3 in high school are not obvious.(3)Self-efficiency and self-handicapping are opposite. The lower the self-efficiency is, the higher the self-handicapping is.(4)Self-efficiency has a positive prediction effect to scores in college entrance examinations and self-handicapping has a negative prediction effect to scores in college entrance examinations.For self-handicapping is a negative adaptive behavior, the following suggestions are given for teaching:the teachers shall pay attention to bring up the correct and objective know of the students to their own ability, establish specific and proper study object and increase their power for study step by step; guide the students to know strive is working. Teachers and parents should encourage the students in time when they get success through strive to improve their belief and self efficiency sensitivity progressively; in grade 3 with keen competition, teachers shall encourage the students to give priority to controlling study contents, compare vertically students with scores to restraint self-handicapping activities of students.
