A reasonable and scientific entrance examinations setting has a direct impact upon the selection and training of those excellent PE talents in institutions of higher education. This thesis, by referring to documents, conducts a research on the origin, development and status quo of the college entrance examinations setting for the PE majors. Besides, taking the setting of 2009 entrance examinations for the PE major as an example, it makes a contrastive analysis on the test items and the proposition advocated by the experts who are asked in the questionnaire, both in theory and operation. It deals with the following issues: whether to set the subject test, if to, how much ratio and grade should it take, and what content should it comprise? Thus, the thesis aims to find out a scientific way to test the constitution, and it has drawn the following conclusion:1. Different provinces and cities have different entrance examinations settings. Taking that of 2009 as an example, many provinces and cities test speed, strength, stamina when testing physical quality, but there are only a few that test dexterity and flexibility. 100 meter for speed test is common. But other tests vary with provinces and cities.2. The advisable tests for PE majors are as follows: 100 meter testing speed, shot put testing the strength of the upper limbs, triple jump testing the strength of the lower limbs, shuttle run testing the dexterity, 800 meter testing stamina.3. Subject test should be included in the entrance examinations, and it should consist of 3 aspects, subject test for physical quality, subject test for skill, and subject test for comprehensive skills. And skill mark should be set.4. The suggested percentage for each test item is: the score of physical quality should account for 60%---65% of the total score, and subject tests for 35%---40%. In the test for physical quality, the score of each test item, for speed, strength of the upper limbs and lower limbs, and dexterity, should be 12%---15% of the total score; stamina, 8%---10%. In subject test, the score of skill should be 60%, quality, 25%, and contest, 15%.5. A scientific and advisable entrance examination setting is conducive to the overall development of the candidates, diverting them from training only for examination. Therefore, the candidates can improve their skill progressively from selection and training, which will also benefit the training of excellent PE talents in institutions of higher education.
