Senior school is the essential period for the development of students' outlook of world and values, as well as self-regulated development.Current researches on senior school students focus on their psychological characteristics, while those on students'learning features-autonomic learning, are mainly from the perspective of state policy, which affirms the value of this research. The background of this research is built on empirical findings and analysis. As the investigations on self-regulated learning differ, the writer divides students' self-regulated learning ability into three types:self-planning ability during the preparation period; self-managing ability during the learning period; self-evaluation ability after learning. The dissertation will discuss the approaches leading to the three abilities in terms of teaching, curriculum and assessment.There are four chapters in this dissertation. Chapter 1 contains the main issues,approaches of the study and so on.Chapter 2 interprets self-regulated learning ability from three aspects: self-planning ability, self-managing ability and self-evaluation ability.Chapter 3 takes the century-old Yucai High School in Shanghai as a case, which possesses a tradition of reforms. The analysis of the reforms from 1960s until now is based on document analysis, questionnaire survey and interviews. This chapter also addresses the cultivation of self-regulated learning ability in this school from three approaches: teaching, curriculum and assessment.Chapter 4 reflects on the approaches of senior school students' self-regulated learning ability, and analyzes the benefits that the three approaches:teaching, curriculum and assessment bring to senior students through drawing lessons from Yucai High school.
