South Korea is one of the earliest countries to practice the Education for International Understanding. In more than one half century, it has made great progress in theories and practices of EIU, and formed its own characteristics. South Korea developed EIU since the beginning of the 60's of last century, under the guidance of UNESCO and will be improved year after year. In 2000, Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding was established in South Korea, and became the centre of EIU in the region of Asia Pacific. It can be said that the research on EIU in South Korea is more advanced than the surrounding countries.Korean government gives powerful support to EIU through kinds of ways, they enact laws and policies clearing the importance of EIU, set up the separate programs to support the conduct of EIU in the curriculum standards, actively cooperate with local governments to carry out the activities of EIU, emphasis on teacher education for EIU, they develop and public the supplementary materials of EIU for teachers and researchers to learn more.South Korea organized a number of schools involved EIU cooperation projects, and has achieved good results, such as Unesco Associated Project,Cross-Cultural Awareness Program and so on. These projects are close to student's life, abundant in content, specific and feasible. Korean university also through a variety of seminars, courses and professional settings to penetrate the EIU.Korean's experience on EIU provides a reference to our practice. We must improve the environment of EIU, related policies, regulations and systems. EIU must be effective implemented to all levels of education and carried out through all walks of life in society.
