The peace is the universal vision of all people, and it is well known that peace-building is depended not only on the organized activity, but on peace education in the schools. The purposes of peace education are cultivating the universal value and behavior based on peaceful culture. Even if located in different culture, we can find out the universal common value existed in the society to resist the violent culture. Peace education is a process that inducts the knowledge, ability and value. Through this process, all students will change their attitude and value, and cultivate the peacemaking skills, namely democratic negotiation, consensus-building and non-violent conflict-solving. This paper attempts to research the peace education in schools. The full text is totally divided into four parts.In the first part, it will introduce the background of developing peace education, discuss the theory and realistic meaning of developing school peace education, introduce general situation of the research and implementation about peace education in schools of china and other countries, and elaborate the reason and method of the research.The second part will elaborate the goals of school peace education from three aspects, such as cognition, emotion and skill. In the aspect of cogitation, the student should understand the literature related about peace, the concepts and principles related about peace education and pay attention to domestic and international violence and conflict; In the aspect of emotion, the student should cultivate the peaceful attitudes and values, such as tolerance, justice, love and nonviolence; In the aspect of skill, the student should learn to communicate, share and cooperate with other people, critically think, democratically negotiate, and solve the conflict with nonviolence.The third part discusses the contents of peace education in schools. This part mainly answers the questions that what content of course will be chose and what significance of the contents in peace-building. The concrete contents of peace education are human rights education, cross-cultural understanding education, common core values education and conflict-solving education.The forth part discusses the approaches to carry out peace education, such as integrating the peace-topic into the course of ideological and political education, building democratic, mutual cared relation between teachers and students, developing the activities seeking for peace, constructing the campus culture of peace etc.
