Water is the source of life. The water culture, which is formed in the process of regulating rivers and watercourses by people, not only is the important part in the human's excellent culture but also is the spiritual power and the intellective support in promoting the development and modern construction of water conservancy project. It is the synthetical culture which reflecting the relationship of water, human being, society, politics, economy and culture. Mongolian, an old nomadic nationality in the north, is discribed as the nationality of living where there is water and grass in the history. The ecological view of Mongolian water culture which gradually comes into being in the development of long history, is an organic part in the traditional culture of Mongolian. The ecological views of traditional culture, like the ecological ethics, the ecological conventions, the taboo of law and so on, which play an important role on the relationship between the human and nature in the northern nomadic nationality and on protecting the ecological environment of the northern grassland. In recent years, many people study the water culture, but few of them take it as the independent form of national cluture and the relative works are very few.On the basis of analysing the forming causes and the folk customs of the ideology of Mongolian's water worship, the author narrates the idea of the ecological protection and its practising significances in this dissertation which mainly contains four parts: In the first part, the writer expounds the purpose of choosing the theme and its significations, and then describes the methods and thought of this research, and lists its innovative points.In the second part, the forming of the ideology of Mongolian's water worship is due to the natural society which contains the elements of natural environment and the modes of production, and the ideas of consciousness which involves the ideas related closely with water and the idea of all things having their gods. Then the author describes them furtherly on the foundations of defining the basic concepts like natural society, the idea of consiousness, the natural environment and the modes of production.In the third part, the author explains the cultural meaning of Mongolian having ardent love for water, treasuring water and worshipping of water. The sacrifice to water includes the sacrifice to the pile of stones and the taboo of water; the appellations named on water contains the place names and the people names. In this article, the author exhibits the excellent traditions of Mongolian protecting the water resources.In the fourth and last part, the writer illustrates the realistic meanings of the excellent tradition that Mongolian protect the water resources from the relationship between carrying forward the Mongolian traditional customs and constructing the harmonious society. On the one hand, the writer expounds the important significances of expanding the good tradition----protecting the water resources from preventing water contamination and economizing on water. On the other hand, the functions of water are discussed from the life meaning, the resource meaning and the stratigic meaning of water. Then the writer describes the dialectical relationship of human and water living together harmoniously from three aspects, which are the idea of sacrificing to water, the idea of thirsting for rainwater and the idea of having ardent love for nature.
