Paul Goodman (1911-1972), the contemporary American social critic and educational critic, From 1950s he began to research the growth of the younger generation the United States, and criticized the public school education System. This opens the sixties and seventies of the 20th century American radicalism Educational Trends, in the education fields had a broad and far-reaching impact,be considered the initiator of"free schooleducation"movement and the pioneer of"deschooling"of thought.Paul Goodman had criticized the compulsory education in the United States according to the anarchism theory, rethink the problem of the school system. In order to help young people show themselves from the real study .Then the education reform promotes the development of the whole social. Goodman said, a good educational system not only to provide learning opportunities for all learners but also let them be able to find available educational resources.so we must strive to construct the environment of freedom of learning, open learning and democracy teaching.This article explores from four parts: The first part describes Paul Goodman's lives and educational works, and introduces the various stages and academic achievement, to better understand the thinking of Paul Goodman. The second part discusses the formation context of Paul Goodman's educational thought. The three part discusses the main content, including the educational role of the social environment and critic the compulsory education of United States. The four part evaluates the contributions and limitations of Paul Goodman.
