Nowadays, citizenship education more and more attracted worldwide concern. As the power in the arena, American has the successful citizenship education, and it become the example in the world. The citizenship education was written into the constitution while America founded, and democracy is the core of the citizenship education. Institutions of higher education as the citizens of the major sites have been established in the citizens of the education system has a clear aim of civic education, the content of education and practice feasible education methods and forms its own unique features. Study the matters of its citizenship education deeply in a broader overview; it is the example for Chinese developing citizenship education.This article mainly analyzed the experiences of American successful citizenship education and experience for our civic education to colleges think about this, for its purpose, content, methods and the features, from the United States citizens of the development of higher education reform. The American citizenship education of the university aims to foster active participation of civil society and enables students to understand the importance of the world social and political trends that can weigh up the local, state, national and international issues, recognizing the world of the relationship. The citizenship education includes three major parts: citizens' knowledge, skills and qualities. The citizenship education mainly put into effect by two methods: direct classroom education and indirect extra-curricular activities and campus culture.
