In recent years, the rate of university's enrollment has been increased gradually. It is recognized internationally that the higher education has entered the stage of popular education, which require some changes in the field of education model, competitive model and university management. However, if the management of university professors are still maintain management model in old days, it will not advisable for university development and social personnel training. In the era of knowledge economy, we can find that everything is changing, including the way to thinking, the values of life, and even the habit of living. Thus, as a brand new management model that can be suitable for intellectuals, flexible management emphasizes the kind of emotional management, which means to inspire people's potential enthusiasm and creativity by educating people's behavior based on respect and understanding.This article has been drawing on the theory of flexible management and human resources management in universities; recognizing the correlation among management theory, motivation theory and flexible management; comparing the difference between rigid management and flexible management deeply. Combined with the status and problems of management of university teachers, we finally conclude that the key point for management of university teachers is to improving teachers'inspiration and creativity. Therefore, this paper analyzes the necessity and feasibility of flexible management in university from the sight of characteristics of college teachers. Take an university in Shaanxi province as an example to verify the disadvantages of rigid management mainly through the data statistics and analysis. The data resources come from the surveys of teacher's satisfaction, demand level and the teacher's turnover.At the end of this paper we pay attention on the strategy of flexible management in university teachers by empirical analysis. It has certain reference value for the university's power system reform, the faculty incentives, the compensation systems, the personnel flow mechanism and the improvement of campus culture.
