This research compares the teaching strategies of different kinds of teachers in middle schools by using the self-designed "Middle school teachers' teaching strategy questionnaires " ,which contains three dimensions: strategies-before-class, strategies-in-class, and strategies- after-class. Inspections indicate that the questionnaires is of satisfactory reliability and validity, so it can be an useful measurement tool for the research. Then results show that the teaching history and the rank of teacher are the specific indicators of the teaching level, which we can use to name the three stages of teachers: the novice teacher, the proficient teacher and the expert teacher. Further analyses find that there are differences in teaching strategies between the different kinds of teacher. Compared with the proficient teacher, the novice teacher pays more attention to strategies-before-class, but is remarkably lower in strategies-in-class, and there is no obvious difference between these two kinds of teacher in strategies-after-class. Between the proficient teacher and the expert teacher, there is a notable difference in all dimensions of teaching strategies. Flexibility, originality and effective reflectivity are characteristics of the expert teacher. Based on these findings, for the novice teacher, it's important to strengthen the link between strategies-before-class and strategies-in-class, and for the proficient teacher, it's important to combine the strategies-before-class and strategies-after-class.
