The teachers professionalization is a current trend in both the educational reforms and professional development of teaching profession. Since 1990s, our country has taken positive steps in this field, such as the enforcement of the Teachers Qualification System, but these steps are only initial ones waiting for confirmation in many aspects. Therefore, borrowing the advanced experience and practice abroad will certainly give impetus to the process of the teachers professionalization. This paper, with this goal, begins to probe into the history and current situation of western teachers professionalization. With plenty of materials and references on those related fields of professionalization home and abroad and from both the theoretical and practical bases, this paper attempts to analyze the process of the occurrence, development and characteristics of the western teachers professionalization. Before 1980s, the western teachers professionalization was always copying the professionalizing mode of other traditional fields (e.g. medicine, lawyer), which led to a difficult situation for the teachers professionalization. Since 1980s, benefited from the in-time reflections and conclusions in the theorectical field, the mode of western teachers professionalization is transformed and shows good signs of development. This paper maintains that in borrowing the other countries' experience, we mustn't repeat their mistakes because of our country's unique situation, historical conditions and cultural background. What's more, we must form our mode of teachers professionaliztion based on the specific situations of our country, which is the sole way to realize the teachers professionalization.
