Since social work recovered and developing in our country, it has obtained certain achievement, especially on the east coast. Social work has already formed the corresponding model of development, shows a tendency of more mature and become a demonstration area of social work in China. However the development of Social work in China present a regional features, with the corresponding to the east, the western region, especially in the west minority region, the development of social work has only just started and still in the exploratory stage. Along with the progress of the society, the improvement of economic level and increase of people’s demand, social work in China also shows the huge superiority of development, and expanding its scope of practice and field. Such as the characteristic of united multi-ethnic country, and the problems in the ethnic areas, the needs of people in minorities regions, which are open the door of Chinese ethnic social work. The national social work has become an important practice field of social work. This paper mainly through the analysis our country present situation and main problems of the western minorities to explore the intervention of social work space and intervention model. Aims to from the value idea of social work, promote ethnic social work theory and practice of continuous improvement and development.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part mainly introduced the background, the purpose and the meaning of the topic, and recommend the ethnic social work both at home and abroad, define and analyze the relevant concepts of this paper. The second part from the angle of ethnic issues and the national social work intervention model to interpret the related theory. This is better to solve ethnic problems, put forward the solution provides a theoretical support. The third part mainly to introduce the western ethnic social work practice space, consist of the geographical and social characteristics of the western minority, the field of social work intervened, and the demand for social work to identify in ethnic minority areas. The fourth part introduced the western minority case and reflection of social work practice, provides reference for the development of national social work model, also to summarize experience and draw lessons and we will continue to improve the western nation social work. The fifth part elaborates the development of western nation social work, include the integration of social work methods, the development experience and countermeasures of national social work. The sixth part as the conclusion expounds the prospects of the development of western ethnic social work and several aspects should be paid attention to in the development. And in order to promote the further development of the ethnic social work and rich the field and connotation of social work.
