Because Japan destroying the colleges and universities and other educational facilities deliberately, Chinese higher education experienced a critical moment of living or death. Under these circumstance, Chinese ideological circles. cultural circles and educational circles had a heated discussion, and consequently the educational thought covering all walks of life came into being, which originated from the subject of saving China from doom. At the same time, the KMT government and the educational circles took the corresponding action, the most important of which is colleges and universities' transference begun in the summer of 1937.The colleges and universities' transference is actually an unprecedented transference of Chinese higher education and the intellectual elites. In form the transference originated from the destroying of Chinese higher education. However, it also consisted of active responses and it ran through the whole war. At last, it smashed the dream of destroying Chinese education and maintained the core of our national education and prevented Chinesetraditional cultural from extinction.
