With the development of modern IT, we have entered a new era of Knowledge Economy since the middle of 20th century As a result, knowledge and information have became the most important recourse and the main element of economic development and the knowledge-creativity become the driving forces of advancing the nation. The knowledge-creativity needs a large number of talents with the ability of creativity. To meet the demand posed by the new situation, education must adapt itself to the new challenge. The traditional way of learning in the education isn't fit to cultivate the new type talents, so one of the focuses of education revolution is helping students to change their original learning way to a new learning way through adjusting the goal, the content, and the method of education. This new learning way is Research-based Learning.IT is the base tool to solve the problem of education and the promoter of educational reformation in the information time; IT with its particular features can facilitate Research-based Learning. So with the spread of the research learning the study on the integration of IT and the research learning has become the hot issue in the field of educational technology. Under this background the author write this thesis.The first part of paper is introduction. In this part the thesis introduces the background of the research learning and analyzes the present status of study on integration of IT and research learning, then the goal, ideas and the main content of this paper are discussed.In Chapter One, the thesis articulates research learning in detail from the perspectives of definition, essential characteristics, and instruction ideas within it, basic procedures and comparison with other instructional methods.In Chapter Two, firstly the thesis defines IT and describes IT that is applied in Research-based Learning. Then the necessity of IT in Research Learning is discussed, IT can create a optimal learning environment for Research-based Learning.In Chapter Three, based on the theoretical analysis, the paper discusses the model of IT- supporting learning environment for Research-based Learning and analyses the four elements, information resource, research tools, communication tools and learning management in this model. Finally, the procedures of Research Learning supported by IT are discussed.The last part of this thesis summarizes the achievements and the limitations in this thesis.
