| It has been a long time since the qualitative research method was used in education in the West. And this is also true in sociology research in China. Yet only until the end of 20th century was it applied in education in our country. According to the recent studies, many results obtained by the qualitative research method are affirmative, but there are still some deficiencies. In this thesis, by analyzing the results obtained by qualitative research method in educational research in China, we'll find some questions existed in the application of this method, make efforts to solve them and provide inspirations for the subsequent researchers to use it better.Four parts are included in the thesis:In the first part, the theoretic background, signification and primary characteristics of the qualitative research are introduced. The qualitative research is regarded as a kind of field method which aims at understanding human beings. The theoretic origins mostly base on the post-positivism, the criticism theory and the structuralism. Main characteristics of the qualitative research method include: 1 keeping the nature of research; 2 paying attention to the integrity and relativity of social phenomena; 3 attaching importance to the explanatory comprehension of meaning; 4 taking the relationship between researcher and subjects seriously; 5 having to abide by the moral principle; 6 utilizing inductive method; 7 acceptance the influence of value judgment. In the second part, a rough criterion to analyze the results obtained by qualitative research method is proposed, such as the validity, the inference and the moral principles. The validity is a kind of consistent relationship between the results and the other parts of the research. The inference of the results relies on the following two ways: 1 the readers' acceptance of the research results; 2 establishing some correlative theories. And at least four moral principles should be followed: 1 voluntary and public principle; 2 respectable and secretive principle; 3 just and rational principle; 4 fair reward principle. In the third part, the results obtained by qualitative research method are specifically analyzed from three stages of an integrated qualitative research, which is respectively tocollect data, to arrange and analyze data, and to induce conclusions. In the first stage, the results is analyzed and commented on the following aspects: 1 the personal factors of researchers; 2 the research relationship; 3 the process of getting into the research scene; 4 the skills of questioning and listening; 5 the choice and withdrawal of the subjects; 6 the notes and the noting patterns. In the second stage, the results is analyzed following three aspects: 1 arranging and analyzing data timely; 2 the norm of analyzing data; 3 the comprehension and abstract of the conversation. In the last stage, the results are analyzed following the representative and the validity of the conclusion of research. In the last part, the main deficiencies existed in the qualitative research in China are induced based on the analysis in the third part, which are: 1 the inadequate preparation as choosing issues; 2 the deficiency of the effective guidance of the theory; 3 the insufficient preparation before the researcher access to the research scene; 4 paying attention to the details of the skills not enough when they are conversing; 5 arranging and analyzing data not in time. In order to resolve these questions, the author points out some measures which are: 1 strengthening the study of base theory in research; 2 choosing the meaningful question to research; 3 choosing the appropriate subjects; 4 reducing the influence of the research bias; 5 paying attention to the standards of research and the details of skills; 6 drawing conclusion based on facts. |
