China and Korea are very close geographically and historically, and they have a close relationship in their culture and economy. So was the educational system that was very similar to each other before the introduction of modern schooling system. However, in the new education and modern schooling systems that were introduced to the nations under the influences of Western Culture, there were different items in the content and development process because of the differences in political and social conditions of the two countries at that time. Therefore, it is necessary and meaningful to have comparative review of the systems in two countries.This essay states the theories of schooling systems, analyze the historical background and development progress of the disappearance of old education system and the introduction of new education system and new schooling systems of the two countries and identify the similarities and differences between them.The scope of the study focuses on the bearing of new education and the establishment of modern schooling system and the formation process of modern schooling systems. For this, the method of literature research was conducted. Literatures and articles related to schooling systems in Korea and China were collected.The contents of review includes the kinds of school, the purpose of schooling, the courses of schooling, the qualification of schooling, the years of schooling and the linking up of schools and centers on the analysis of exterior structure and shape in education.Before civilization the schooling system and thepurpose of introducing Modern Schooling System were similar. However, because of the differences of politicaland social conditions between the two countries at that time, each country introduced different contents of schooling system.At the beginning of the civilization, in order to adapt to the requirement of the changing of society and to richen the country and strengthen the army, under the supervising of the government, China carried out foreign language teaching, industry and commerce teaching, and military teaching. From the earliest new style school Jing Shi Tong Wen Tang, China formed independently special schools.From the earlier new school-Tong Bian Schoolwhich taught English, medicine and other special subjects and independently existed together with missionary systematical schools, South Korea never formed systematical schooling system. Making JiaWu War as a chance, South Korea abolished the old schooling system of imperial examination system and laid down governing systems and rules for all kinds of school of different levels, steered on the formation period of the new system. However, owing to the interference of Japan and because of the weakness of Korea, South Korea did not develop education of nationalism or independent schooling systems.During the beginning period of the civilization, under the influence of Western power, China formed new system and modern schooling systems. They did not get much influence from foreign countries from then on and managed to carry out a development. Completely opposite, Korea was highly influenced by Japan from the point of the introduction of new schooling systems and it was in their shelters all the time. They neither develop education of nationalism nor independent schooling systems. Korean Modern Schooling Systems is not complete comparing with China. Furthermore, based on such foundation both of the two countries established their Modern Schooling System.
