As a relatively mature teaching method,comparative reading is widely used in Chinese teaching.However,there are relatively few studies on comparative reading in expository teaching,and most of them are presented in the form of single teaching discussion.This paper aims to integrate the existing scattered teaching practice and systematically study the application of comparative reading in the teaching of expository texts in junior middle schools.The selected texts of the unified textbook for junior middle school students are the learning materials for junior middle school students to learn expository texts.Therefore,the author takes the selected texts of the unified textbook as one of the important research materials in the research process to study its content characteristics and arrangement characteristics in order to find the entry point of comparative reading.Through the analysis and research of the teaching materials,it is found that both the content and the exercises reflect the concept of comparative reading,and there are many successful examples in teaching practice,so it is feasible to apply comparative reading to exposition-writing teaching.comparative reading is the comparative and analytical reading of two or more works that are related to each other in content or form according to certain standards or goals.It is a conscious and purposeful reading behavior,and it is also an effective reading and teaching method.Through the study of selected texts and cases,it is found that the comparative reading in expository text teaching can be the comparative reading between textbooks,such as the comparison of words,paragraphs,languages and expressions,or the comparative reading between texts and different texts,including the original text,reference books and texts of different versions.It is worth noting that the comparative reading of expository text also includes the comparison with non-textual materials,such as the comparison between written language and spoken language,etc.Students' oral expression can be regarded as the comparison material related to the content of the text.In the process of comparison,teaching principles should be followed to ensure the effectiveness of comparative reading.
