Application date: April,2004.Modern community education has been introduced and developed in China and since the implementation of system reform and open-up policy. Compared urban areas, rural community education was initiated much later. After the development in past two decades, community education in developed rural areas of Jiangsu Province has been primarily established according to the demand of local economic development and the needs of local people. Based on the theories of educational sociology and rural development, a case study was carried out in Jiangyin, an economically developed county in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province to summarize the experiences and to identify factors affecting the rural community education. Based on the findings, the authors made recommendations and suggested strategies on how to develop and extend community education system in the well developed rural areas of Jiangsu Province.
