| The educational research of secondary-school teachers is an important segment of scientific research on education. Different from theoretical research, it focuses mainly on solutions to practical problems. And its applicability is determined by the role of secondary-school teachers as major practitioners of secondary school education. The efficacy of the research is a unity of immanent process efficiency and exterior achievement effect. The immanent efficacy is reflected by innovation of school management, teachers' improvement in quality and proficiency, and students' overall development. While the exterior effect take the forms of statement and application of research achievements, elevation of schools' reputation and status, etc.During the process of innovation of fundamental education, people have gradually accepted the idea that teachers should participate in applied research to a specific area of education and become professional researchers as well. Outwardly, a great number of secondary-school teachers have contributed to the flourishing of relative educational research, which has generated fruitful achievements; but such a phenomenon cannot conceal the truth that the efficacy of their research is rather poor, as proved by my investigation in Yanjiang district of Ziyang. And the survey also indicates some other existing disadvantages, which has caused the failure to accomplish the efficacy proposed above and has brought about analysis on the main reasons underlying as follows: subjectively, the school leaders andteachers are not fully aware of the importance of teachers' participation in educational research, teachers lack of professional knowledge about doing research, and they do not have enough time or energy; objectively, the unreasonable evaluation system, imperfect investment system and administration system, and inefficient information acquisition and exchange are all obstacles to a successful educational research.We should change the present situation; Priority should be given to a better understanding of the importance and necessity of educational research, and to a further comprehension of the unity of teaching and research. Teachers' burden should be lightened and the school system needs to be adjusted and innovation encouraged so as to provide a good environment for productive research work and a viable means to improve its efficacy. |
