Social changes and developments lead to new standards of a talented person. For educating talented persons to serve society, our education needs reformation urgently. Educational development calls for teachers as researchers, because they have higher quality and can adapt themselves to social change and educational reform better. Since the 1980's, research and education for teachers as researchers have been given more attention at many countries.The U.S researcher studied teacher development and his research showed: experience-f reflection=development Therefore, in the development of teachers as researchers, the function of reflection is very clear. It is the purpose of this article to study the characteristics of their thought, behavior and so forth when they reflect their teaching and education, through interviews, observations and communion with them in order to give advises to the development of teachers as researchers.The subjects of our research are mathematics teachers. Our research shows that there is no obvious different characteristic between mathematics teachers as researchers and other subject teachers as researchers when they reflect.Based on researches of the characteristics of reflection and teachers as researchers, this study talks about the characteristics of teachers as researchers when they reflect. We studied their reflective motive, their reflective guarantee, their reflective direction, their width of reflection and their depth of reflection.As energy and fuel, the reflective motive launches reflection. The factors that urge teacher to reflect are pursuing perfect, pursuing novelty, and adjusting their target.The guarantee factors of reflection can make reflection proceed smoothly. They include open-mindedness, problem awareness, consciousness, and whole梙eartedness.The reflective direction is the target. The goal of teacher reflection is improving their education thought and education practice gradually, through advancing their thought based on their practice and instructing their practice according to theories. The final goal of teacher reflection is the improvement of practice.The depth of reflection is the degree of their thought reaching to the nature. We state it from three aspects, understanding themselves, understanding of educational regulations, and understanding of mathematics.The width that teachers reflect primarily is their considering problem towards many directions. They can discover connections of various things and find many methods when they solve problem. We state it from comprehensive, deep knowledge and a vast visual field of research.
