The paper aims to probe into the problems of the inquiry-based learning in geography of high school and the cultivation of students' humanities quality.The cultivation of students' humanities quality now is a trend of thought from education within the globe. The main task of geography education in 21st century is to improve the science and humanities quality of student altogether. But the cultivation of students' humanities quality during geography education was ignored in past. The paper takes the inquiry-based learning in geography as a measure for the cultivation of students' humanities quality, it explains the importance of the cultivation of students' humanities quality during geography education by the practices together with the theory of education, psychology and geography education; analyzing the humanities spirit in inquiry-based learning in geography; it puts forward the basic principles and effect approaches in the cultivation of students' humanities quality during geography education through author's investing and practicing.The paper also indicates that it can train the humanities spirits urged need in current geography education, such as the consciousness of main body, spirit of creativity, ability of practice, spirit of cooperation and concept of sustainable development through implementing inquiry-based learning in geography.
