A Research Into Developing Students' Independent Learning Ability In Chinese Learning Through Inquiry Learning

The definition of Inquiry Learning can fall into the narrow definition and the broad definition. By its narrow definition, it is a project researching activity and independent course. In this essay we are discussing Inquiry Learning Chinese from the angle of its broad definition. It refers to a method of learning, in which students learn by inquire problems, that is, students independently discover the problems and inquire them to come to a conclusion with the help of their teachers' instructions.While learning Chinese, students can only develop their ability to understand and using this particular language after their own practicing Chinese. Thus it is necessary to emphasis that students should be the main body of Chinese Learning and invite them to inquire problems in Chinese Learning, which will benefit their Chinese Learning tremendously. In this way, student's ability of independent learning can be well-developed. Honestly speaking, we do admit that when we come to the teaching of some basic knowledge of Chinese, the instruction of teachers can also achieve excellent results. But, no matter how wonderful the results is, the procedure of teaching can only be an input of information, which will certainly limit students' motivation of learning and their results in return. Therefore, if we can employ Inquiry Learning in Chinese Learning, we can greatly and fully develop students' ability of independent learning.This essay seek to combine the best theories of Inquiry Learning at home and abroad with the features of Chinese Language and its teaching practise. We start from how to put the theory into the Chinese Language Teaching so as to construct an original way of Chinese Teaching for high schools to improve the efficiency of Chinese teaching and learning and develop students' ability of independent learning to meet the need of Quality Education.
