Research On Parents Of Exceptional Children Participating In School Education

It's a tendency in modem education to stress the role of parents and encourage them to participate in school education ,for both ordindary children and exceptional children.Due to the physical or psychological impairments on the part of exceptional children,their school education needs more participation of parents.Many parents of exceptional children are incapable rather than indifferent to their children's school education .At present,there are few discussions about parents participation of exceptional children's education hi China .A deep analysis of it will enable parents to play their roles best in their their children's education.This paper is divided into five parts.Part one holds that it is the right and obligation of exceptional children's parents to participate in their children's school education.Part two analyzes the necessity and importance of parents'participation.Part three holds that exceptional children's parents can successfully participate in their children's education only after they obtain some supports.Part four is about how to support their participation.Part five probes how they should participate in school education . The main viewpoints are as follows:1 .Exceptional children's parents are first teachers of their children.They have the most intimate and everlasting connection with their children.Therefore,they should enjoy their rights as exceptional children's parents and fulfill their obligation of participating in school education .2.Participation of exceptional children's parents is beneficial to the growth of their children, to the improvement of school education ,to the healthy development of their family life.3.According to the principle of two-way interaction between children and parents,exceptional children bring objective and subjective burdens to their parents.Under the burdens,parents are prone to hold wrong ideas and attitudes or act in a wrong way,which in the end affects the effects of the participation.Therefore ,only by giving proper support can parents abandon wrong ideas,overcome obstacles and participate in school educatin effectively.4.The supports to exceptional children's parents can be macroscopic or microscopic,the former referring to support of the state in formulating laws and policies;the later referring to support on the part of school administration and teachers.5.The participation of exceptional children's parents is a combination ofparticipation in school education and in family education .They can participate by means of choosing schools,family tutoring, participating in the process of school education.
