A Study On The Reform And Reinforcement Of The SET System

SET (short for Self-taught Higher Education Examination) is an important exam system and education system, which has made great contribution to training talents of socialist construction and improving the economy development for 20 years. To meet the need of economic development and the higher education reform, SET should deepen its reform to make further development. From the macro points of views, this paper discusses on some important issues facing the reform and the development of the SET system. According to the issues, the paper suggests adjusting major-establishment system to make talents training market-oriented, developing the learning support system to provide students with sound resources, thus to enhance their learning achievement, reforming the exam contents and forms, fulfilling the spirit of the quality education, making SET more practical and cultivating people's innovation ability, and integrating the set with other forms of adult education to make good use of the limited education resources, setting an example and a good foundation of constructing the learning society.
