With the help of multi methods (e.g. the qualitative analysis on relational literatures, assistant quantitative analysis on questionnaire on map teaching etc), this paper, based on the new concept of geo-curriculum standard, goes deep into how to carry out map teaching in senior high school period. Through analyzing the problems and experience existing in domestic and foreign map teaching and grasping the new concept, the paper defines the concept, the purpose and the theoretical basic of map teaching again. It also puts forward several measures for map teaching from the aspects of the teacher, the map-maker and the society. And besides, the paper offers a case of map teaching directed by the new concept of geo-curriculum standard in senior high school period. On the base of research, this paper acquires the following results:Firstly, during the process of map teaching, problems keep existing when experience is adding, namely, it is of no benefit to map teaching when only paying attention to detailed geo-images, while lacking of systematical description.Secondly, to develop map teaching, the paper emphasizes that it can be developed in the school or out of the school. At the same time, the paper points out that development of map teaching needs the theoretical guidance of Marxism theory of knowledge, systematic scientific theory, pedagogy and psychology as well as cartology and geography teaching theory.Thirdly, the paper indicates that the development of map teaching must pay attention to multi factors (e.g. the teacher, the map-maker and the society, etc). As concerned as the teacher, they should change their traditional teaching way and promote their professional quality in order to realize the sustainable development of the student. As concerned as the map-maker, with the guidance of training the students' information culture, they should increase the types and times of the map while raise its quality by new theory and technology of the cartography in order to develop the student's character. As concerned as the society, it should make the social atmosphere which helps the student to understand and use the map in order to offer them the opportunity of practice.
