Thanks to the rapid development of China, the connection with the outside world is more frequent than ever before. Since knowledge updates quickly at present, the basic education system shall be reformed continually. NCS issued by China Ministry of education puts forward the new concept as well as idea of English teaching; meanwhile, English textbooks shall be updated with teaching reform persistently so as to realize the breakthrough of new English teaching concept and English textbooks in English teaching. Currently, the requirement for the ability to English is increasing, and the understanding of cultural background receives more authentic attention, which means the comprehensive application of English is becoming more important. Meanwhile, during new curriculum reform, the ability of English teacher is facing greater challenges. Based on NSE published by FLTRP, this research solved the following research problems by adopting the methods of questionnaire and interview.(1) In what aspects does the textbook of NSE meet teachers and students’ actual demands during using?(2) What are the main issues of NSE in application?For the sake of solving the research problems mentioned above, this study analyzed the textbook in detail. By means of adopting questionnaire and interview, the author carried out research on NSE itself. The questionnaire is specially divided into two parts, including teachers’ questionnaire and students’ questionnaire so as to obtain more detailed effective information. The distribution date of the questionnaire was October 2015, during which the survey collected 356 effective students’ questionnaires and 43 effective teachers’ questionnaires from Grade Two in three senior high schools. Then 6 teachers are interviewed. Furthermore, the research classified and analyzed the data by adopting chart as well as percentage. The major research discovered that:Firstly, the study showed that teachers and students are comparatively satisfied with NSE since this textbook can cultivate students’ comprehensive language application ability and it also basically meets teachers’ teaching demands.Secondly, this research summarized main issues of NSE in application in terms of teaching material, teachers and students. Such as too many words and unreasonable grammar design of NSE, the condition that teachers are not familiar with NCS and weak English foundation of students.Nevertheless, the NSE still is a favorable choice for teachers and students since no textbook is perfect. In view of the major discover of this article, this research both obtained some enlightenments and proposed its limitations. At last, this research raised suggestions for textbook users, textbook designers and future study.
