The rapid development of the computer network technology has changed the view of the world completely; the World Wide Web is influencing people's living and the society's development. The large dependences on the environment mean that the learning fashion will be changed into a new one under the new technology environment that is characterized by the Internet.From the view of the instruction design, the research is about how to design the web-based inquiry learning program in this thesis. The primary studies as follows: Analyse the abroad and domestic existing status of the web-based inquiry learning fashion; Analyse the relevant theme Web site in depth; Design my own concrete activity case, probe the principle of the design and try to improve the deficiency of the current cases which I found and have analyzed.The methods of this study are these: literature researching, case researching; interviews; and the research on the Internet, etc. Based on these methods, makes a deep thought about how to design the web-based inquiry-learning program.The definition of the web-based inquiry learning is uncertain, now. Here, we define it as such a learning activity, based on World Wide Web, at the same time it is an interactive, cooperative and problem-solving learning process.In my research, because of the command of the technology and information literacy are all too high to the middle school student, we found that the way which completely based on World Wide Web is not suitable to these students. Many web-based inquiry learning programs orientate themselves as pure web information collecting and searching work, such cannot embody the superiority of the Internet entirely. And as to study the natural science course, can not only inquiry the principle through reading the online resources, such reading will not build and construct the real scientific concept unless combine with the really practices or experiments. So I conclude that the web-based inquire learning should be integrated the virtual forms with the real practices, that is to say, the learning resource supply, the intercommunication and cooperation can be based on World Wide Web, but should be gone with the real practices, the face-to-face intercommunications and cooperation at the same time, thus develop the effective cooperative inquiry learning.The case designed in my paper, is to explore the difference of the climate between the east and west area in our country, and quest for the reasons. As we all know, the climate is closely linked with agricultural production, but for many factors such as climate difference, the main crops and it's production in different area is not the same. So I designed a task that make students investigate local crops and produce situation. The investigate way can be interviews with local peasant, field investigate; refer to all kinds of information, etc. The investigate results may be a report which include with pictures or data of local agricultural production. This is an activity which is close to our life, its' implements depend on the teacher's organization and the society's support.In this investigation activity, the student from different areas will be compare the investigation result of all parts, naturally, that will cause to the discussion about the reasons of the regional crops difference. The activity can be expanded to the survey of local district weather situation, the topography and the ground forms, so we can probe into the factors which influence the climate, through such deeply think, it can impel the student understand the climate characteristics of our country, and know the rich produce resource in our motherland, and that can inspire the patriotic emotion of the young person.In the old teaching mode, the teacher tells students some facts directly can not make the student understand how these factors influenced the climate, and can't realize the importance of the climate difference to production and our normal life, so adopt the inquiry learning mode can help students understand the scientific...
