With the fast popularity and spread application of information technology, significant and profound changes have taken place in social economic field, which made a series of new requirements to the talent training in secondary vocational education. Graduates from secondary vocational schools need not only specialized knowledge and skills, but also the knowledge of IT to meet the needs of social development. Therefore, it has been an urgent and heavy task to accelerate the spread of modern education technology and improve the knowledge of IT.In order to face the challenge in information age, strengthen the adaptability of secondary vocational schools in Gansu province to the social development, enhance their sustainable and coordinate development, it is necessary to make minute investigation on the present application of modern educational technology. This article attempts to apply the theories and methods of survey, analysis and document study to systematically examine the present application of modern educational technology in provincial secondary schools, and to find the main problems affecting the information construction and application of modern educational technology. Some constructive thoughts and suggestions are put forward by using modern pedagogical theories.This article falls into five parts:Part I: From the perspective of the characteristics and trend of modern educational technology, the author analyzes some major elements affecting talents' training, background and practical significance of the research.Part II: A brief introduction is given on the target, method and thought of the research.Part III: The author, from its origin, development and evolution, accounts for the connotation of modern educational technology and obtains theoretical and practical basis for the research. Under the guidance of the theory, the author suggests that it is necessary and practical to apply and spread the modern educational technology in secondary schools.Part IV: The author takes 48 schools as survey sample (including 28 common secondary schools and 20 secondary vocational schools, all of which took part in evaluation on information construction in 2003), then makes multi-level analysis onthe application problems by using the data concluded by experts group as well as information from the author's school.Part V: The author expounds and summarizes the present situation, characteristics and main problems of modern educational technology in provincial secondary schools. Some constructive thoughts and suggestions are put forward to improve its application.
