In 1983, after many years of hardworking, Howard Gardner, a famous Professorof Education at Harvard Graduate School of Education USA, published hisground-breaking "Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences." In thisbook, Gardner holds that every human possesses several distinct intellectual faculties(rather than a singe trait called "intelligence"), each with its own way of developingand operating. This is a milestone of his theory of Multiple Intelligences, whichfunctions as one of the basic theories of the contemporary educational reform in USA,and it has profoundly influenced the American Education both in theories and practice.We can also find a lot of theoretical similarities in the ideas in our Chinesefundamental Education reform as well as the new curriculum reform, which is clearlystated in the document of "The essentials of Chinese Fundamental Education". The application of the theory of Multiple Intelligences in the Primary SchoolsEnglish Teaching can result in a correct development tendency of the "Education forall - round development" movement, which matches the core idea of reform thateducation should face the overall students, and set a solid foundation for them todevelop their life long learning and developing skill. The fundamental theory in thispaper is based on Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. It inquiresdeeply into many aspects such as the relationship between TEFL in primary schoolsand theory of Theory of Multiple Intelligences (TMI), the application of the TMI inthe teaching plan, the application of the TMI in the English classroom, the applicationof the TMI in the assessment of the English teaching in Primary Schools, togetherwith the long term teaching experience in the practice of primary English teaching.Moreover it also expounds how primary English teachers build up a brand newconcept of pupils, a new perception of teaching, and a flexible sense of assessment,how to establish a teaching method based on the Theory of Multiple Intelligences aswell as how to plan lessons under such brand new ideas. It especially provides a lot of precise operational accessible projects on suchaspects as how to reform the TEFL in primary schools, how to apply HowardGardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences in the arrangement and extension of theteaching content in the teaching plan of the specific unit, how to set the brand newteaching strategy of the English vocabulary, listening, speaking and reading, how todevelop pupils multiple intelligence in classroom teaching. These projects could be avery useful source of reference for the teachers to take advantage of HowardGardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences.
