The School-based Curriculum (SBC) , shortly speaking, is the curriculum exploited by the school itself. It is an important content in the new curriculums reform in our country and plays a significant part that other curriculum forms can not do in establishing characteristic schools, cultivating specialized talents with initiative spirit, practice ability and unique individual character. The School-based Curriculum-Development (SBCD) , which brightly exerts personal creativity, individual character and ability and fully improves people's quality, is based on students and a flag of holding the individual character high. The development of individual character is the start and destination of the present education, and against this era background, the SBCD has great potential. The School-based Geography-Curriculum (SBGC) is what exploited according to the criterions of the new geography courses from the angle of geography.At present, the SBCD is going on like a raging fire , however, there is a lack of School-Based Geography-Curriculum Development (SBGCD) and the SBCD in the Middle Schools in poor and backward mountainous areas. The geography education is characterized with insufficient resources for qualified curriculum and abundant resources for the material education, so how to make a full use of the advantages to exploit SBGC is the point of the research. The thesis, which takes the SBGCD in the middle schools in Shiyan as an example, put forward the pursued value, principles and basic strategies in the SBGC in the middle school in poor and background areas through positive analysis, based on the new curriculum theory, geography characters and the education practice of the poor areas with the problems in the development and practice of the SBGC in the country and Shiyan.This paper is mainly divided into three parts. Part I : introduction. It mainly expatiated background, meaning and significance of the SBCD in the poor and backward areas; part II: the present circumstances of SBGC in middle schools; part III: the main body.
