A new round of the basic education curriculum reform has been carried out for more than ten years like a raging fire. Research on the theory and practice of curriculum resources is also unceasingly deepening, and curriculum resources are playing an increasingly important role. However, the mountainous rural areas are in the lack of favorable conditional course resources currently, and most of the teachers feel puzzled at the development of course resources. Because information is relatively isolated, they can’t understand the theoretical knowledge related to course resources and don’t know how to develop and use course resources, leaving many valuable physical course resources idle and wasted in the rural areas. This has affected the nationwide popularization and implementation of the new curriculum reform.Aiming at the above situation, I, the author, take the Exploitation of Material Curriculum Resources and Its Application in Geography Teaching in Middle School as the research subject. Regarding the new concept of curriculum resources exploitation and the new perspective of teacher and teaching advocated by the new curriculum as the theoretical basis, the measures of referring to the document, survey, evidence research as basic methods, the geographic teacher in rural middle schools in Shouning County as research subject, the survey has been made to investigate and analyze the problems and reasons in the exploitation of material curriculum resources in mountainous rural areas. According to the problems found in the investigation, this paper puts forward the strategy and practical principles of developing material curriculum resources in mountainous rural areas and conducts the empirical research by the use of teaching cases. Based on the results of practical research on enriching the exploitation and utilization of rural curriculum resources, references are offered to teachers in mountainous rural areas to exploit and utilize material curriculum resources.Through research, I, the author, find that the exploitation of rural material curriculum resources in mountainous rural areas is feasible. When applied to the class teaching, the resources are easily accepted by students, leading an active classroom atmosphere, and the students’ interest in learning is greatly enhanced. Meanwhile, the learning efficiency is improved. I, the author, hope that this application research can provide some references for the geography teaching in mountainous rural areas and offer some new ideas for the curriculum reform of basic education in mountainous rural areas at the same time.
