After China's joining WTO and in implementing the strategy of revitalizing the nation through science and education, it is up to the medium-sized professional education that takes the glorious historical mission of cultivating millions of high-quality laborers and primary-level or middle-level specialized personnel. To finish this historical mission is based on developing medium-sized vocational education of high quality in a more cost-effective manner, while the key lies in building a high-quality teaching body. So it is imperative to utilize computer network and multimedia technology in the field of teaching. Furthermore, the wide application of modern technology in teaching field has brought deep changes, which is unprecedented, to traditional middle-sized professional education and at the same time it brought challenges to teachers. If we define the information technology as a magic wand with enormous might , then the teacher can be defined as a magician who handles this magic wand. So in this essay, by analyzing the characteristics of IT in education, the changes it brought to teaching field and China's current situation of medium-sized professional education, the writer discusses the four challenges that teachers face during the application of IT in education, such as the cultivation of teachers' information accomplishment, the change of teachers' role, educational innovation and the renewal of study ideas and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures to these challenges. The purpose is to enable teachers in that teaching field to see clearly the general orientation of educational reform and to know how to face the challenges correctly when facing the rapid coming of the information-based tide, so that teachers will try their best to improve their own teaching abilities to adapt to the reform and to promote the development of medium-sized professional education. As a result, they can smoothly accomplish the glorious historical mission of cultivating millions of high-quality laborers and primary-level or middle-level specialized personnel as well.
