There is no exception to the fact that moral education of school is considered as primary for students in every country. In this paper, we analyses the general methods and features of moral education in American school, aiming to promote the actual effects of ours. The structure of this paper is as follows:Firstly, we outline the long track of moral education in the United States by dividing the development into several phases according to the moral education theme of two reformations. Through this, we get to know the background of moral education in American school, which is significant to grasp and study it. The main features of American schools' moral education can be generalized as Political, efficient and theoretical. These distinctive features are molded not by separate education phenomena but by ideologies (individualism and liberalism) and social culture (multi-culture). The aim and end-result of American's moral education are to cultivate "competent and responsible participants of the society and politics for democratic state of constitutional government".In the second part, we put emphasize on major way and method of moral education in American school. In United States, the ideological education for youngsters is enforced by imbuing the next generation with American ruling political thought and concepts of values through the efforts, such as education of religious beliefs, political socialization, moral consciousness, and media knowledge. These are very useful to that of China. The realization of the moral goal is due to a practice link of the moral way and method, requiring moral way and method to be consistently and identical. At the same time, this part exposes thepresent existing problems of moral education in America.The third part breeds the similarities and differences on the way and method to compare to the virtue of American schools' moral education. Because of different cultural tradition, in various countries the moral education has its' own characteristics, which are reflected from different ways and methods. For example, they emphasized individualism, nationalism and anthropocentrism. At the dimension of moral mentality, the moral cognition was laid stress on, but emotion, will and action habit were of ignorance. The most protruding characteristic of moral education method was to oppose indoctrination. Wfe can draw lessons from to some extent through relatively combining according to the present existing problems of school moral education of our country.The fourth part is the home of the full text In this part, the author makes personal comments and proposes several suggestions on school moral education in our country, in order to improve substantial results that school moral education works. ITiese enlightenments are as follows: moral education reform should become the whole people' movement; character education should become important contents to students; we should emphasize the integration of moral duty of school, society and family.
