Parenting self-efficacy may be defined as parents' self-referent estimations of competence in the parental role or as parents' perceptions of their ability to positively influence the behavior and development of their children. According to literature reviews on parenting self-efficacy, analysis of the questionnaire conducted among parents of junior high school students, and technology of factor analysis, this study have put forward its own theoretical hypothesis and evaluation model of parenting self-efficacy and constructed PSES. The formal questionnaire was carried out at four junior high schools in Chongqing City and Shandong Province. The results are the following:I. The self-made PSES is of good reliability and fair validity. It can be used as a credible and effective tool for measuring parenting self-efficacy.II. By means of exploratory factor analysis, the research found that parenting self-efficacy is constructed of three dimensions, that is, perceived studying and living support efficacy, perceived moral culture efficacy, and perceived self-doubt efficacy.III. Age has significant main effect only for perceived self-doubt efficacy. The difference of perceived self-doubt efficacy is significant between the first age section and the other age sections.The difference of perceived studying and living support efficacy is significant between Grade 1 and Grade 2. From Grade 1 to Grade 2, efficacy level drops gradually. Efficacy level in Grade 2 drops to minimum point. From Grade 2 to Grade 3, efficacy level has slow uptrend. It in general submits " V " model.
