Based on the theories of constructivism in science education and modern learning, this paper systematically does useful research on learning characteristics and independent and creative learning of the students of senior high school, using document method, qualitative research method and inquiry method, and etc. It is composed of two sections.In the first section, on the basis of analyzing, concluding and inheriting the research achievements of the predecessors, the author elaborates the senior' s learning characteristics . Thus ,basically establishes the foundation for further research.In the next section, according to plenty of practice through long-term teaching, the author points out and demonstrates the characteristics of the students' independent and creative learning and introduces two types of new learning models which are fit for the senior'physiological and psychological characteristics and are in accordance with the needs of development of the subjects. Moreover, the author makes definite comments on how to cultivate the ability in independent and creative learning. There are four parts that compose this section.In the first part, on the bases of the theories of constructivism ,the author elaborates the characteristics of independent and creative learning.In the next part, the author points out the importance of this type of learning, by analyzing the senior's physiological and psychological characteristics and it's learning characteristics as well as referring to the development of it's abilities.In the third part, according to plenty of practice through long-term teaching, the author introduces and demonstrates two types of new learning models, namely PBL and Group Investigation, which are fit for the senior's physiological and psychological characteristics and are in accordance with the needs of development of the subjects.In the last part, based on the theories of the previous parts, the author makes definite comments on how to cultivate the ability in independent and creative learning.
