Humanistic education is becoming a present hot point of the higher education innovation and development of the world when the humanistic education "return" to western universities in 70s last century. Many aspects especially the views and methods of humanistic education of Chinese universities have dropped behind and have obvious gap compared to western universities. The thesis narrate the respective developing positions of the humanistic education between Chinese and western universities standing at this point, and find the common ground and differences through comparing .The compare can offer useful experience for constructing Chinese humanistic education system through extracting the advantages and discarding the disadvantages.The first part of the thesis explain the aim, academic meaning and practice meaning of the study, introduce the rough content of the thesis and the studying methods as reference method, disposing material method, comparative method and social investigating method. The second part of the thesis summarizes the basic theory to humanistic education and ground an academic basis through stating the connotation, traits and value. The third part of the thesis is the most important one, it compare the humanistic educational background, educational aim, educational content, lesson system, educational channel and method between Chinese and western universities through various study ways and point the difference of Chinese universities mostly including not understand the humanistic education aim clearly, moral education isn't good, the proportion of humanistic lessons isn't enough in all lessons and the content setting is random, the humanism doesn't combine with the science very good, the humanistic education doesn't combine with the professional education very good, the government lack supporting policy and document and the teaching method need innovation, etc. The last part of the thesis is the conclusion part. The ways and experience of humanistic education of western universities offer the profitable inspiration to Chinese universities aiming at those shortages mentioned above, for example, realizing the unification between the personal value and the social value when pursue the individuality development in educational aim, strengthening the moral education in educational content, constructing the humanistic lesson system in lesson constructing in order to combine the nationality with the internationalism, combine the science with the humanism and combine the humanistic lessonswith other specialties, the government make supporting policy and document and universities innovate the teaching methods themselves, etc.
