At present, Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland have offered courses in Chinese History in junior middle school. However, as a result of historical reasons, the social backgrounds and the education ideas of two places are not quite identical, and there are a lot of differences in some aspects, such as the aims, the objectives, and the contents and so on. Therefore, how to compile Chinese History textbooks has become the focus of two places in the field of History education.In view of this, this paper selects two sets of influential Chinese History textbooks of Hong Kong and Chinese mainland as chief sources of comparative study, it expounds several problems related to textbooks first, such as the textbook systems, the textbook compilation principles, then compares the structures, the layout, etc, and finally compares and analyses the two kinds of textbooks editions in the economic history, the political history and the cultural history compilation, as well as the utilization of historical data and the choice of historical figures, attempts in the foundation which the predecessors have studied, carries on more systematic comparisons and discussions from the multiple perspectives to China History textbooks of two places, expecting this paper can have a benefit to Chinese History textbook compilation of two places, especially to Chinese Mainland.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part introduces the textbook systems and the compilation principles of two places. After comparing the textbook systems and compilations, it believes that Hong Kong's have much more freedoms than that of Chinese Mainland, they have their own strong and weak points respectively.The second part analyzes emphatically the structure of compiling style of Chinese History textbooks of two places. The structure of compiling style refers to all parts between the front cover and the back cover. The two sets of textbooks have their own characteristics respectively.The third part explores the layout of Chinese History textbooks of two places.
