Rural workers are the main labor force of Chinese cities' rapid growth and development who leave home to cities for jobs. However, most of them have to leave their children in the rural areas for most reasons, these children are known as the "rear children".Most of these children have social and psychological problems in the absence of parents'guidance, care and education.According to survey about the school reports, the states of mind and individual characters of the "rear children"and"non-rear children"in the rural boarding schools, some conclusions are drew: There are some psychological and behavioural differences between them, but such di-ferences are far from significant degree. School, family and community are the important factors which influencing on the "rear children" growth. Chinese rural boarding school can reduce the negative influence of parents'going out on the rear children and it is good for healthy growth of the"rear children". One parent at home and the overall en- vironment of the community to the "rear-children" is also importantBased on the survey, the realistic strategies to deal with a series of problems about the "rear children" should be as following: boarding schools should be built more and more and some schools should becoming boarding schools in the rural areas where most of rural workers have gone out to make a living;management pattern of the boarding schools should be strengthened;teachers should be exerted and pay more attention to caring for "rear children";parents of the"rear children"and every force of the society should be cooperated with school to help "rear children'Mn the long run, the current system of household register should be quicken innovate in order that many"rear children"enjoy the right of educating with their parents.
