The Course Standard of Full-time Compulsory Education (and Health) has been put into practice in several provinces for several years from 1st September, 2001, and the Xiangtan city has taken a full scale practice from the year of 2003. The PE course of middle school has changed a lot in the last two years, the application of new course not only brought vigor but also provide a good chance for the school to reform in full scale. Since the contradiction between the implement of PE and Health and the former teaching concept, convention, style, and standard of valuation, the PE teachers' adaptation to and the implement of the new course being the key of the success of the reform. So in the process of the PE reform, the teachers' psychological adaptation plays a critical role. Whether middle school PE teachers will adapt to the immense change brought by the reform of PE and heathy course will directly influence the teachers teaching initiative, willingness, creativity, and display of their potential ability. In the end it will affect the loss and gains of reform in PE as well as healthly course.Through questionnaire and interview, the author had made investigation and study on the psychological adaptation of 128 middle school PE teachers in Xiangtan. It shows a good result of the cognition, convention, style, and valuation of the new course. However, the practice of the new course has brought great psychological pressure on the teachers. The analysis shows that it differs a lot in different aspects of the adaptation of the teachers with different education, professional job title, age, and the school types they are teaching in. The attitude, education, age, professional job title, and the school types are the main factors which affect the psychological adaptation of the middle school PE teacher.
