Constructing the evaluation model of new geography textbook of high school (EMNGTHS) is a new growing point of the research on geography textbook evaluation. This research constructs a mainly quantitative EMNGTHS, which is based on the current educational policy, " Curriculum Reforms Summary of Elementary Education " and the geography curriculum standard, under the direction of the geography theory, the psychology theory, the education evaluation theory, the geography curriculum and teaching material theory;drawing lessons from overseas advanced experience and research of other subjects about textbook evaluation;associating with the characteristics of geography;contacting the new thoughts of geography curriculum and the development tendency of new geography textbooks. The thesis mainly includes following four parts: the theoretical research on EMNGTHS, the comparative research on EMNGTHS, the evaluation model research on geography textbooks of high school, the practical case of EMNGTHS.EMNGTHS is a product of some theory. We have two problems before constructing EMNGTHS: on one hand, what is a high-quality geography textbook? On the other hand, how to carry out the evaluation of geography textbooks? We should resolve these problems under the direction of the geography theory, the psychology theory, the education evaluation theory, the geography curriculum and teaching material theory etc.In comparison with the foreign research, our research falls behind. In the way of the evaluation aim, the abroad pays more attention to pursue suitable textbooks for schools, we emphasize whether geography textbooks is qualified or not;in the way of evaluation method, the abroad relatively think more of quantitative method, but we are used to qualitative analysis;in the way of the evaluating index, it includes the aim of textbooks, the teaching design of textbooks, the content of textbooks, as well as the publication characteristic of the textbooks, there are also difference. We value the content characteristic of textbook specially, but the abroad relatively emphasizes the teaching design of textbooks. In addition, some overseas evaluation indexes relatively are in advance, which may provide us some thoughts for the design of geography textbooks.Based on the analysis above, the thesis obtains the EMNGTHS, which includes fiveparts: first, the guide ideal of evaluation, such as the current educational policy and " Curriculum Reforms Summary of Elementary Education " and the standard of geography curriculum;second, the evaluation aim, the model is used to select appropriate textbooks for schools chiefly, but also used to examine geography textbooks;third, the evaluation standards, which includes agreement with the standard of geography curriculum, incarnating the value of geography, promoting students' comprehensive and individual development, keeping space for teaching;forth, the evaluation tools, which includes both static evaluation tools (consisted of quantitative evaluation form and qualitative evaluation form)and dynamic evaluation tools (consisted of teachers' evaluation investigation and students' evaluation investigation) . The model includes such three first-grade evaluating indexes as the characteristic of teaching, the characteristic of content, the feature of textbook. The characteristic of teaching is the essential characteristic of geography textbook. Therefore it is the most important;the last, the evaluation mechanism. We especially emphasize returning the right of textbook selection to teachers and students, reforming other kit systems, such as making laws about textbook selection, establishing the social supervision mechanism, reforming the entrance examination to university and so on.Finally, according to the model, the thesis has a try on the new geography textbook published by Hunan education publishing company in the form of a case, which explores the evaluation strategy of the new geography textbook.
