To cultivate creative talents is one of the goals that educators of the 21st century seek to achieve. For a person of creativity, the most important is to have excellent thinking abilities. The chemistry experiment teaching is part of middle school, which has quite different features from those of other subjects, and the teaching methods of which also differ. It is of great value to take full advantage of the chemical experiment teaching as a good carrier in order to strengthen the development of students' thinking ability and finally reach the educational goals. I've been seeking hard for scientific ways to train students' thinking ability effectively by the experiment teaching, basing my ideas on related theories of psychology as well as my practical teaching experience.Though grounded on theoretical knowledge, the experiment teaching of middle school chemistry lays great stress on practice. It helps students break away from the theory-to-theory pattern. It carries out the basic law through which students get a gradual knowledge of the world from practice to theory and then from theory to practice. The important task is not to teach book knowledge, but to provide students with opportunities of experience through experiments. Thus students' knowledge can be deepened and broadened. Above all, the experiment teaching can help students experience the whole process of logical thinking-from perception to rationality, from peculiarity to generality and from image to essence. By various means, such as analysis and induction, it can also develop students' thinking abilities in divergence, convergence, flexibility, agility, in-depth and criticism.Considering the present problems in the experiment teaching of middle school chemistry and the characters of students' physical and psychological development, I suggest some thinking strategies to train students' thinking ability.1. Intensify the combination of theory and practice in the experiment teaching, using the elicitation teaching approach.2. Overly and correctly grasp the typical experiments of middle school Chemistry, through which to train students' thinking ability.3. Get rid of the fixed pattern of thinking and develop students' divergent thinkingability, using the form-changed teaching method and comparative teaching method on the basis of the typical experiments.4. Adopt the study-exploration teaching method and encourage student to improve experiments, design experiments and make their own experimental instruments, so that students' creative thinking can be developed.5. Carry out experiment designs arid experiment evaluations so as to foster students' ability of self-adjustment and self-control. Through continuous designs, evaluations, judgments and choices, improve their critical and creative thinking.6. Develop students' incisive thinking by making them analyzing the error of quantitative experiments.Under the guidance of thinking theories and according to the characters of students' physical and psychological development as well as the distinctive features of the experiment teaching of middle school chemistry, this essay is aimed at helping students develop excellent thinking qualities. It stresses that teachers should abandon the old conception of considering teaching theoretical knowledge as the only teaching aim, and that teachers should make good plans to train students' thinking ability with awareness and a definite purpose.
