WebQuest is a novel learning method, and it is also a kind of studying based onconstructivism and the co-cooperation studying theory. Being the central role andunder the guidance by the teacher, motivated by a certain task, students are motivatedto utilize WebQuest to carry out active investigation, exchange and discuss andaccomplish a certain learning task so as to build up students' abilities of inquirylearning and solving problems. Applying WebQuest to showing teaching contents inthe chemistry education of middle school can produce positive effect. It also meets thedemand of the current curriculum reform. At present, lots of teachers have set up theirown web page on WebQuest curriculums in this way and many practices have beentaken in use of teaching in school widely around the globe.This paper is engaged in applying WebQuest to middle school chemistryeducation and makes consideration on the issues that come across.My work includes:1. The definition of WebQuest and its constitutions, its origin and development inChina.2. Research on the theory of constructivism. Constructivism is the theoreticalfoundation of WebQuest. Based on the Internet, WebQuest motivates students tocarry out active investigation by certain tasks, thus accomplish the process ofactive knowledge construction. This paper mainly deals with the research in twoaspects: "learning" and "teaching". Emphasis has been put on the relationshipbetween constructivism and WebQuest.3. Research on the application of the learning pattern of WebQuest in chemistry classin middle school. It includes: research on the possibility of the application ofWebQuest;designing principles of WebQuest;teaching methods in investigatinglearning in chemistry education and the way of building constructivisminvestigating learning pattern based on WebQuest, and in the meantime, providingthe main way of designing WebQuest for middle school chemistry education: thesituational teaching design, and illustrating it with examples4. About examining the effect of investigating learning pattern based on WebQuest.Through nine-month teaching practice, the author studied the investigatinglearning pattern based on WebQuest by observation method and questionnaire andfinally the author analyze the validity of the investigating learning approach.It is positive to apply constructivism investigating learning method based onWebQuest in middle school chemistry teaching. By designing and usingWebQuest, teachers can accelerate the improvement of their professional workand enhance their ability of creating. Students change their roles from objects ofreceiving knowledge passively to the subject of learning initiatively. Therefore,investigating learning pattern not only helps students have more interests inlearning, but also raises their comprehensive competence.
