The innovation education has become the special focus in the international educationalcircles at the beginning of the 21st century, the implementation of quality-oriented educationand the reformation of basic courses, which all taken place in our country that all point to thistopic. Exploratory teaching is one of the teaching methods that reflect quality-orientededucation and the new concept of courses;it plays an active part in nurturing students'creativity.P.E. optional class is the main teaching form of the P.E. course, and it is also the import-ant contents of reformation in high schools. Its teaching method also should be innovated. Thewriter did a series interview, actual investigation and check a great deal of cultural heritage d-ata, leading the exploratory style teaching method used in optional P. E. courses of Badmint-ton in high schools. The exploratory teaching method built up a new relationship betweenteachers and the students. Teacher is not the incarnation of the truth any more, and the stude-nts' motivation and the creative ability also get developed. It makes the class teaching be fil-led with the vitality, and the effects of class teaching get raised.In order to enrich the theories of exploratory style teaching and innovation education, alsoto provide P.E. teachers and students a consulting example of exploratory teaching foroptional P.E. courses in high schools, the writer takes students from 2 Shenyang IndustryUniversity as the research subjects to carry on experiment and action research. Base on thedeeply comprehend the meaning of exploratory teaching, carry out it in optional P. E. coursesof Badminton in high schools, to verify that the exploratory teaching is one kind of validteaching method for optional P. E. courses in high schools, it also lay the foundation for otheritems to develop exploratory teaching method, providing the beneficial reference and drawinglessons for optional P. E. courses reform in high schools at the same time.
