Study On Present Conditions And Trend Of Population Aging In Jilin Province

Population aging exerts strong impacts upon human societies. Along with the increasing industrialization and modernization of various countries in the world, the birth rate and the population natural growth rate keep decreasing year by year in some countries, which is leading to the transformation of population age structures to aging population, and the problem of aging population is getting more and more serious. Jilin Province is faced with the problem of aging population, too. The gross population and its age structures are undergoing changes. According to statistics, in 2000, the population above 65 years old in Jilin Province was 1.62 million, accounting for 6.04% of the total population, and the population age median was 32.67 years old, which were indicators of an aging population society. Now there are more and more old people year by year, and the aging population is growing every day.Population aging is an increasing process where the number of people above 60 or 65 years old keeps growing in the population proportion.
