| The urbanization is the process in which a country or a district gathers personnel, fortune, technology and services and the transformation of living styles, production modes, organization patterns and traditional methods. Currently, the backward state and slow speed of Chongqing's urbanization have restricted its economical development, thereafter affected the growth of sports industry, which is categorized into the Tertiary Industry.This topic is one of the branches of the national funded project in the charge of Professor Pang Yuanning: the Influences of the Present State and Highly Developing Items of Sports Industry in the West of China on the Coordinated Growth of China. Under the history background of Chongqing's urbanization, based on the latest theory of DevelopingEconomics——the "Point-axes" Systematic Theory and the Growth Extremity Theory, thispaper analyzes Chongqing's social economic development and its present state of sports industry applying qualitive and quantitive methods and proposes solutions and suggestions to the development plan of Chongqing's sports industry from the perspectives of developing principles, targets, focuses, modes, functions and directions.This paper is divided into five parts: the first part is about basic situations of urbanization in Chongqing; the second is on the economical situations of sports industry development in urbanization; the third focuses on the present state of Chongqing's sports industry development; the fourth is on the plan of Chongqing's sports industry development; the fifth and last proposes solutions and suggestions to Chongqing's sports industry development and what lacks in the search.
