In this paper, the author focuses on the theory, how to research and practice ethically in the realm of Educational Technology.There parts are discussed. They are the problems, the methodology and tools, the mechanism to protect the realm to be ethical.In the first part, i.e. the problem part, firstly, the author argues the ethical nature of Educational Technology, intrinsic and extrinsic, to prove that the realm of Educational Technology has to pay attention to the ethical topics; then, some unethical phenomena in this realm are listed, and the reasons behind the phenomena are arranged into three perspectives: technology must refer to value, the human nature of Educational Technology, the impetus to the realm. From then on, the paper believes that it is essential to learn from the subject of Ethics.In the second part, i.e. the methodology and tools part, firstly, the author argues the main contend of the three normal Ethics paradigms: the description ethics, meta-ethics, and the regulation ethics from the perspective of methodology. Secondly, three types of ethical theories, the teleology, the deontology, the dharma, are discussed as the tools based on the formal ethical problems. Thirdly, the mechanism to just the ethical problem, the influential factor to the mechanism are referred.In the third part, i.e. the ensuring part, this author argues the approaches to protect the realm to be ethical, which are moral education, technology and law. The former is from self-discipline, and the later two are from outside.With the end of this paper, the author summarizes briefly, and promotes the problems that he wants to discuss further.
