At the beginning of 21 century, with the deeper transformation of China economy framework, deeper economics globalization, and the expansion in enrollment of China's higher-education institutions, the employment environment of college graduates changes dramatically. As the competition of the labor market gets more and more acute, structural contradiction of the labor market aggravates. College graduates' employment becomes a new problem attracting much attention from various fields. Is the higher expectation the main cause for the difficulties in the employment of college graduates? If so, how about the relevance between college graduates employment expectations and their employment reality? With these questions, the author did this research.First, on the basis of the analysis and evaluation of the existing research results on college students' employment, the paper analyzed the relevance between college graduates' employment expectations and their employment reality in the view of human resource theory and labor market segmentation theory. Then, the paper analyzed the relevance between college graduates' employment expectations and their employment reality statically and dynamically according to the statistical analysis. The main conclusions are as follows: 1.The disparity between salary expectation and salary reality of college graduates was the largest, and the level of salary expectation was higher than the level of salary reality. The difference between the kind of working unit expectation and that of the reality was larger. The relevance between college graduates' employment expectations and their employment reality was affected significantly by education level, department or major. 2. Through the years, the level of salary expectation and salary reality rose, and the level of salary expectation was higher than that of salary reality. The higher the education level was, the higher the levels of salary expectation and salary reality were. In all, the relevance between the level of salary expectation and the salary reality declined through the years, but that of the undergraduates went up again in 2005.At the end of the paper, the author analyzed the major factors that resulted in the disparity between college graduates' employment expectations and their employment reality from the aspects of the macro circumstances, employers, colleges (universities), college students themselves. Meanwhile, the author put forward some suggestions and solutions aimed at narrowing down the disparity between college graduates' employment expectations and their employment reality.
