Currently, the employment rate of postgraduates, which is even lower than that of graduates, has declined year by year.—An abnormal phenomenon of academic achievements inversion. A large part of master graduate student concerns about the employment situation. The survey indicates that the postgraduates who ever experienced job-hunting generally believe they have difficulty hunting for a job, let alone an ideal one. Compared with the severe employment status of graduate students, Craze for graduate program continues to heat up and many universities increase enrollment in successive years. And consequently a large number of graduates with Master’s degree flood into the job market with a result that the advantages of graduate employment are not as obvious as before. The reasons why these graduates have problems in achieving employment are their holding high expectations for job. Thus, expectations degrees are closely related to whether they can achieve successful employment. Nevertheless the graduates from various areas differ in their expectations for job.It is pointed out in The Third Plenary Session of 18th Central Committee of the CPC’s Decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Some Major Issues Concerning Comprehensively Deepening the Reform that we will promote the employment of young people, especially college graduates and create more employment opportunities for college graduates. Also we will adopt policies to encourage college graduates to start businesses on their own and implement a plan for promoting the employment of college graduates who have left school but have not found jobs and provide overall employment assistance. Therefore, it tends to be a hot issue to look into the graduates’employment from the perspective of employment expectations, which has caused widespread concern from society. It not only affects individual’s choice for career but also influences individual’s whole life. Therefore, the research about figuring out what graduates from different areas’ expectations for employment are and what aspects their differences lie in as well as why these differences come about is great importance in terms of achieving smooth employment of such graduates.According to the expectancy theory of frum theory and occupational status, in this paper, starting from the paradigm of empirical research. By investigating the expectations for employment of the newly graduate students of five graduate schools in Shandong province in 2014, in a comprehensive, in-depth and systematic way this thesis compares the discrepancies of expectations and causes of these discrepancies from such aspects as nature of work, income from work, work region, manner of employment, job-seeking channels, the extent of the compatibility with the job and job prospects. The results showed that:where the graduates come from will conspicuously affect their expectations for the nature of work, and there are differences in the expectations for the nature of the unit, on the nature of the unit, the unit size, type of work, some differences in expectations, units are expected to fame distinction does not exist; regional structure significantly affect salary expectations; part of the difference between the work area is expected to occur; there were significant differences in employment patterns; employment channels vary by region; work and employment prospects counterparts degree choice section presents differences. So, to start from the micro-level counterparts to resolve differences for the above, we should enhance the overall quality of individual, Safeguard employment policy, colleges strengthen the training, and employers change concepts four macro promoting graduate employment.
