Research On The Management Of Expanded Multi-campus University

Administration of multi-campus university has become focus of research in recent years , because of the reform progress of higher education administration system in China. The multi-campus universities can be divided into three types by different sources, they are joint multi-campus , extended multi-campus and mixed multi-campus.Scholars have mostly studied the joint multi-campus by now, according to the literature, while the extended multi-campus has a much different administrative focus. The joint one mainly emphasizes on models ; efficiency which focuses on sources merge; campus culture; teaching teams subjects construction and campus orientation, and the extended one emphasizes on planning, models, efficiency which focus oncost and outcome and campus culture, etc.In order to verify the above ideas , the author interviewed some experts in East China Normal University (ECNU) with the question : what is the most important problems of extended multi-campus? And the author found an interesting phenomenon that the upper leaders believe planning ;model and efficiency of administration which focuses on cost and outcome , and campus culture are all important; while the lower leaders of college believe efficiency problems such as bad traffic and inconvenient daily life ,etc. and whether the allotted resources such as building positions , teaching facilities , and difficulties after moving to the new campus are enough ,and the managing mechanism are most important.So the author analyses the phenomenon, and finally locks the research points on planning, administration models, efficiency which focuses on cost and outcome, andcampus culture.This paper takes East China Normal University as example , and studied its extended multi-campus . It also describes the thoughts and practice of ECNU multi-campus administration, the possible problems and the ways of solving them , so that it can offer inspiration to multi-campus universities of the same catalogs.The whole paper includes five parts which are the prelude ; the history , present situation and implications of ECNU multi-campus; the orientation and planning of extended multi-campus; the model of administration ; efficiency of administration and campus culture.
